All things taken into account, the one indication that remains unreported is the anxiety. The entirely valid anxiety of not surviving or winding up hospitalized with what is referred to as a ‘serious case’. Even while enduring the illness as I compose this piece, I cannot impart any sage advice on how there is nothing to worry about, since none of us really understand how this ailment will impact us and at what moment, even less can anyone counsel others on it. The most unsettling aspect of the entire ordeal is the sensation of utter solitude. Even if one possesses a robust support network, friends and family who offer verbal reassurances, it’s the dread of the unknown and the realization that no healthcare provider can be seen, and if at any moment your symptoms worsen, regardless of the hour, you are alone until you reach the Covid-19 facility at the general hospital – anything else would be breaking the regulations. In any case, given the statistics, most readers here have likely already faced it and are perhaps recalling precisely how they felt (assuming you adhered to isolation guidelines), and the reality is that no matter how fluffed your cushions, how warm your tea, and how many journeys one can choose to make or forgo, health must always be our top priority. Perhaps this piece fits better in my health & fitness section, but it stems from a canceled trip, so it will remain here. My journey to Covid-19 isolation reminded me once again that we are all in this together, regardless of our covering. Stay healthy and be resilient! xxx
